Omagh Bombing Inquiry confirms date of next hearing

Published:

The Omagh Bombing Inquiry has confirmed that the next hearing will take place in Omagh week commencing 23 June 2025 to enable Core Participants to make their opening statements. The timetable for this hearing will be confirmed later in the year.

The Inquiry has also confirmed that the next evidential hearings will focus on events of the day on 15 August 1998 and previous attacks to the Omagh Bombing.  This will enable the Inquiry to begin to answer the question of whether the Omagh Bombing could have been prevented by UK state authorities.

Further details on the upcoming hearings and next steps of the Inquiry are available in Counsel to the Inquiry’s closing remarks at the Commemorative and Personal Statement Hearings, which are available to read on the Inquiry’s website here.
